45th Reunion - June 24~25, 2005

Gary Lamle proudly pulled our float in Friday's Old Settler's parade, which lasted about 2-1/2 hours.  Most wore CC t-shirts: CC, My Kind of Town & Proud to be from CC.  Our CD player didn't like the 95ْ  heat, so we couldn't play 50s music as planned.  Lenna Rouse Burnham periodically led us in the cheer, "Gimme an E...", which brought back memories of ballgames & pep rallies.  Gary's tractor was purchased by his father when Gary was a sophomore & he has restored it.

After a  buffet dinner, Don Lipke conducted the auction of items brought by classmates.  Terry Meyer assisted by pointing out the fine features of each item & Jack Phillips worked the audience, even getting some phone bids to up the ante.  Thanks to the entertaining efforts of these three great guys, the auction raised $609 for our 50th reunion.

Brenda Reeg Robison then led a brief program.  The reunion committee for our 50th in 2010 is:  Linda Lawrence Sutton, Lenna Rouse Burnham & Brenda Reeg Robison.  The goal is to have at least 50% of the class attend.  Those present indicated they'd like to again hold the reunion in June at Eagle's Nest.

Dick Waugh lit a memorial candle and read the names & dates of death for the 15 classmates who are no longer with us. He then shared a story about Mike Street who passed away in 1995.  Others shared stories about Dorothy Erne Feightner & Myrna Taylor Mullins.

Jack Hyndman presented certificates of appreciation & roses to Becky Cable Phillips & Margie Poffenberger Hollenbaugh for their 45 years of reunion committee service to our class.  The certificates were designed by Allan White.

Brenda Reeg Robison announced that the newly formed CCHS Alumni Association now has a website at www.cchsaa.org.  She created the site & serves as webmaster, and Ted Gruver (1957) is founder and president of the alumni association.  Brenda encouraged everyone to enter their profiles online in the database of almost 15,000 CCHS graduates 1881 through 2005 and to pass the word along to classmates & friends.  No email address is needed to enter your profile.

Linda Lawrence Sutton,  Karen Clawson Swineheart, Linda Bennett Kniss, & Margie Poffenberger Hollenbaugh led us in singing the CCHS Fight Song accompanied by a CD by the 2005 Marching Eagles band (Click to play Fight Song).  We all agreed that the song's arrangement was a bit different than the 1960 version

Margie Poffenberger Hollenbaugh led us in a cheer to end the program, and the rest of the evening was spent socializing.  About 10 pm, the partition was opened between us and the Class of 1965, which held its reunion in the other side of Eagle's Nest.
