Glenn Paul Frank, 86, of Columbia City, died at 6:55 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010 at The Oaks where he had been a resident for the past four years.

He was born June 29, 1924 in Portland, Indiana a son of Herman R. and Amelia Marie (Fox) Frank. In 1929, the family moved to Columbia City and established the H.R. Frank and Sons Greenhouse. Glenn attended Columbia City School and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1942.

After his graduation, he worked with the Civilian Public Service and spent time in the Rocky Mountains doing geological surveys. Upon his return, he attended Manchester College and Purdue University before joining the family's greenhouse business.

On June 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Eloise B. Blackwood. The made their home in Columbia City, later moving to Wolf Road. Mrs. Frank died October 19, 2006.

Co-Owner and Operator of H.R. Frank and Sons Greenhouse, he also was a local weather forecaster for WFDT radio, a Whitley County Commissioner and served on the Whitley County Council. From 1986 to 1995, he was the Executive Director of the Columbia City Chamber of Commerce.

A founding member of Columbia City Church of the Brethren, he also served as a Deacon. He was a past member of the Columbia City Rotary Club.

He is survived by four children, Mary "Marisa" Frank, Fort Wayne, David (Jennifer) Frank, Martha (James) Kreider and Samuel (Ann) Frank, all of Columbia City; nine grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Ardeth Frank.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Wilson, Marcus, Hugh, Marion and Dale Frank and three sisters, Evelyn Frank, Alice Frank and Amy McKinney.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials may be made to Columbia City Church of the Brethren.
