Notes:

D. Kirk McNagny, 89, of Williamstown, Va., passed away of pneumonia Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Kirk was born in Columbia City Nov. 18, 1924, the last of three children to Vera and Rob Reed McNagny.

Kirk graduated from Columbia City High School and subsequently earned an aeronautical engineering degree from Tri-State University.

In 1952, he married Jaralee "Jerry" Johnston of Peru, his partner in life for the next 44 years.

Kirk had a lifelong career in the cable and magnet wire manufacturing business, first in Cassopolis, Mich., and with subsequent relocations to St. Louis, Mo., Lexington, Va., and finally to Williamstown in 1973, where he worked as a regional manager for General Cable and Carol Cable Corps until his retirement in 1990.

Kirk was widely known for his strong work ethic, his passion for all things mechanical, racing and rebuilding cars and for his devotion to his tight-knit family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jerry, in 1996, of breast cancer and with whom he enjoyed gardening, family, friends and travel.

He is survived by his son, Kirk (Kerry and son, Kirk Benjamin) of Long Beach, Calif., and his son, Kelly (Yanet and children, Lucia and Ryan) of Vancouver, BC.; by his nephews, Dosier Hammond of Princeton, N.J., Rob Hammond of Urbana, Ill., and Kirk Hammond of Charlotte, N.C.

Kirk was a very devout and dedicated member of both the First Congregational and the Williamstown Baptist Church.

A private memorial service will be held for immediate family. Independent announcements will be made at The First Congregational and Baptist Churches of Williamstown and the family asks that friends wishing to make memorial donations please make them to those locations.
