Notes:

Rosemary Morehead, 88, Topeka KS, passed away Saturday Jan. 10, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

Rosemary was born on June 17, 1926, in Columbia City, IN, the daughter of Charles and Freeda (Smith) Adang. She loved Columbia City and might have remained there forever had a friend not introduced her to Glenn C. Morehead, a young soldier from Topeka, KS, who was in town for an Army reunion.

Glenn and Rosemary married in 1948 and started a family in Columbia City. They moved to Topeka in 1951 to help his family recover from the damage of the great flood and they lived in Topeka for the rest of their 62 year marriage.

Rosemary was a homemaker, and for 25 years volunteered in the library at Randolph Elementary School.

She put in countless hours over the years and was loved by students and staff. Rosemary enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, gardening and making personalized cards for family and friends on her computer. She moved to Presbyterian Manor in 2011 where she volunteered in the gift shop and enjoyed playing bingo.

Her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rosemary was a kind and gentle soul who always saw the best in everyone and everything (except her new computer, which managed to confound her every day. Even she had a hard time seeing good in that "garsh-darn Windows 8 thing"). She will be dearly missed.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn C. Morehead; a son, Frank Morehead; and a brother, Bill Adang.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Dugan, Shreveport, LA; her son, Bill Morehead and his wife Karen of Wickes, AR; Sister-in-Law's Bobby Adang, Columbia City, IN, and Pat Gehr, Topeka, KS; five grandchildren (Mekea Bartlett, Melissa Morehead, and Randy, Mike and Bill Patrick), and eleven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rosemary will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Randolph Elementary School Library c/o Randolph Elementary School, 1400 SW Randolph, Topeka, KS 66604 or to Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund c/o Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th Street, Topeka, KS 66606.
