NANCY JANE TROUT, 79, a resident of Fort Wayne, died at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Heritage Park Nursing Home where she had been a resident since May 2005.

She was born September 15, 1926 in Columbia City, Indiana a daughter of George W. and Florence (Burkett) Myers. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City and she graduated from Columbia City High School in 1944. She received her bachelor's degree in journalism from DePauw University. A member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, she was co-organizer of the chapter at Kansas State University where she did her graduate work.

She served as the women's editor for the Daily Republican Newspaper in Manhattan, Kansas until 1950 when she returned to Indiana and began her employment at Magnavox. She edited the company newsletter "Magnavox Voice" until 1962.

On January 20, 1962 she was united in marriage to Kenneth James Trout. In 1968 they moved to their present home in Fort Wayne.

She joined the staff at Trinity English Lutheran Church in 1982 and was editor of the church newsletter, the "Parish Visitor", amongst other tasks. She retired in 1994.

Her memberships include Trinity English Lutheran Church.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Kenneth; a daughter, Carol Jane Trout of Fort Wayne; a son, James William (Eva) Trout of Fort Wayne; and three grandchildren, Courtney, Natalie and Cameron.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Brindle.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Dr. C. James Cress officiating. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The burial will take place at a later date at Greenhill Cemetery.
