Genevieve L. Mason, 88, of Huntington, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at her farm home where she had lived since 1957.
Mrs. Mason was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Columbia City, to Leo and Marie (Perry) Fries. Her parents preceded her in death.

She married Harold Mason in 1952. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1999.

Mrs. Mason graduated from Columbia City High School in 1945, attended Indiana University and graduated from Carnegie Institute.

She worked on the family farm growing up, sold farm products at the Fort Wayne market, and worked as a physician's assistant in her earlier years. She owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband and children. Genevieve was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington.

Genevieve is survived by her nine children; John (Deb) Mason, of Atlanta, Ga., Coletta (Tony) Payne, of Brownsburg, Gerard (Ann) Mason, of Danville, Regina Stahl, of Bloomington, Angela (Paul) Lineback, of Carmel, Maria (Tom) Lund, Mark (Kathy) Mason, Eric (Laura) Mason and Damian (Lori) Mason, all of Huntington; one brother, George Fries, of Marion; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Gabriel Mason.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Aug. 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, with Father Ron Rieder, OFM Cap presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Huntington County 4-H Fair Association in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, Ind. 46750.
