Jeanice C. Graves, 84, of rural Columbia City, died at 12:44 a.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Hospice Home, Fort Wayne where she was admitted July 28th.

She was born August 22, 1926 in Columbia City, Indiana a daughter of Joe and Freeda I. (Decker) Sharpe. She graduated from Columbia City High School and Ravenscroft Beauty College.

On June 4, 1946 she was united in marriage to Norman William Graves. They made their home in Columbia City, Syracuse and later Roanoke for 20 years before moving to their home south of Columbia City in 1986.

A beautician, she assisted her husband with various restaurant operations, Norm's Place from 1950-1958, Crossroad's Inn from 1982-1988, Country Post Inn in Huntington from 1994-1997, The Back Door from 1999-2000 and Norm's Country Post from 2004-2005. She retired in 1989 from Continental Grain Company, formerly Wayne Feeds, with 19 years of service.

Her memberships included Nu Theta Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma, Eagles #1906 Auxiliary, and Roanoke American Legion Post #160 Auxiliary where she served with Past President Parley.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Norman; a daughter, Pamela S. Worrel of Roanoke; a son, William Joe (Jill) Graves of Delphos, Ohio; six grandchildren; a step grandson; and four great grandchildren.

A son, Gary E. Graves, and two brothers, Robert Sharpe and Dean Sharpe, preceded her in death.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date at South Park Annex Cemetery. There will be no public visitation or service.

Preferred memorials may be made to Hospice Home.
