Notes:	LaVerne Irene LaRue, 90, of Columbia City, died at 8:25 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Miller’s at Oak Pointe, Columbia City where she had resided since July 2nd. She was born November 26, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Freiburger) Mills. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City where she graduated from Columbia City High School. On February 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Norman R. LaRue. They made their home in Pierceton. In 1956 the couple moved to Ohio returning to the area in 1963. Mr. LaRue died September 15, 1994. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for the Masonic Temple, Fort Wayne as a bookkeeper for 20 years. She is survived by her five sons, Larioux "Butch" (Lorna) LaRue, Worden, IL, Steve N. (Ellen) LaRue, Verne A. (Jennifer) LaRue, both of Columbia City, Michael G. (Janet) LaRue, LaRue, TX and Lynn R. (Pamela) LaRue, Columbia City; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Leora Lomnicki, Portland, OR. Additionally, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Skach, and a brother, Dale E. Mills. A private family service was held at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
