Notes:	JEANETTE A. MYERS, 85, a resident of Columbia City, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at her home. She had been in failing health. She was born September 10, 1929 in Whitley County, a daughter of Earl and Nellie (Black) Chapman. Her formative years were spent in Thorncreek Township. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1947. On August 5, 1950 she was united in marriage to James H. Myers. They made their home in Columbia City, Oklahoma, Huntington and Gary before returning to Columbia City in 1957. James died August 12, 2000. She served as the Whitley County Recorder for eight years and had 20 years employment with the Recorder's Office. She enjoyed cross stitching and crossword puzzles. Surviving include her six children, Laura Byers, Columbia City, Nancy Burman, Columbia City, Michele (Ray) Kitson, Columbia City; Susan Gaff, Columbia City; Douglas (Melinda) Myers, Albion and Jack (Carrie) Myers, Angola; 13 grandchildren ; 22 great grandchildren and two sisters, Hilda (Vern) Diffendarfer, South Carolina and Carol Schinbeckler, Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; a brother, William Chapman; four sisters, Ethel Knisely, Hazel Fisher, Helen Orcutt and Donna Putman and a granddaughter, Cary Kitson. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial is at a later date at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. For those who wish memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Food Pantry.
