The Bryan Times November 15, 2006:

Donna J. Buda
(1931 - 2006)

Donna J. Buda, 75, of Bryan [Ohio], died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Toledo Hospital. Born March 28, 1931, in Pierceton, Ind., Donna graduated from Lutheran School of Nursing, Fort Wayne, Ind., as an RN in 1952.

She married Ned G. Buda on April 4, 1954, and has resided in the Bryan area since. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Robert and Mildred (McCullough) Pratt.

Donna lived life to the fullest and impacted the lives of many throughout her career as a hospital and health department nurse and school nurse for both the Williams County schools and Montpelier Public Schools. After retirement she continued to help the children through the Montpelier Public Schools Mentoring Program. She has partnered with her daughter Margaret in Buda Enterprises, a Shaklee wellness company.

An active member at West Bethesda Presbyterian Church, she was an ordained elder, lay preacher, leader of the Presbyterian Women and choir director. Her love of Jesus Christ and desire to share His grace extended to participation in The Great Banquet of Bryan and in area women's Bible studies. She fulfilled a lifetime desire as a medical missionary, serving in Uganda and Kenya six times.

Donna's quest for personal improvement included studying for a degree in Childhood Education at BGSU, becoming a Master Gardener, and achieving the Advanced Communicator Silver in Toastmasters International. Quilting allowed her to express her love with fabric and color designs. Music was an important outlet for her and she was a current piano student under Hyla Sharrock.

In addition to the many friends, neighbors, students and coworkers she loved, she is survived by her seven children, Ron C. Buda of West Unity, Julie and husband Robert Courtney of Cumberland, Md., Linda and husband Dr. Philip Diller of Cincinnati, Patricia Buda of Bryan, Perry Buda and wife Elaine of Grand Junction, Colo., Margaret Buda of Bryan and Aaron Buda of Philadelphia, Pa.; her twelve grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua and Melissa Courtney, Nathan, Walter, Audrey, Esther, Rachel, Peter and Henry Diller, and Paul and Spencer Buda; her sister, Thelma Coverstone of Columbia City, Ind.; her sister-in-law, Anna Buda of Bryan; and adopted into the family daughter Carolyn Striker and husband Joe of Durango, Colo., and cherished son Mande William, wife Dinah and sons Peter and Jonathan of Uganda.

Visitation will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier, or Thursday, Nov. 16, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the West Bethesda Presbyterian Church, County Road I and 12, on Friday at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Tawee Layraman, with burial at the Farmer Cemetery following the service.

Friends can honor Donna's memory with a memorial to West Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
