In 2013 was one of first two Fort Wayne patients to receive a transcatheter aortic valve replacement, or TAVR, which allows high-risk or inoperable patients to receive the life-saving heart valve through a catheter rather than open heart surgery. Husband's obituary:

Clarence “Al” Hamman, 79 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on October 07, 2011 at 3:54 am in his residence.He was born on December 12, 1931 in Kosciusko County, Indiana to Clarence F. and Ruth (Garrison) Hamman.

On June 11, 1982 he married Deloris “Jean” Geyer in Warsaw.

Clarence served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, retiring in 1973, then he worked for United Telephone Co. for 17 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49, Warsaw. He also was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Warsaw.

He was survived by his wife, Deloris “Jean” Hamman, Warsaw. Daughter, Martha Conley, Nappanee, In. Step Son, Steven Coy (and spouse Jeannie), Warsaw, In. Two Step Daughters, Susan Niles and Sally Gilbert (and spouse David), Columbia City, In. One Sister Margaret Yazel (and spouse Rex), Mentone, In. Ten Grandchildren, Ten Great Grandchildren, numerous Nephews and Nieces, and Toby, his faithful furry friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and five sisters.

Visitation hours will be held from 1-5 pm on Sunday, October 09, 2011 in Warsaw at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels. Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1:00pm at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana with military honors by the American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126 and the ARNG

The family requests memorial contributions are to be made out to the donor's choice.
