Deloris Joan Reavis, age 79, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 11:58 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at her son's home in rural Columbia City. Born December 5, 1932 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of William Frederick and Alta Leota (Downing) Breisch.

Raised in Whitley County, she also lived in Peru, Fort Wayne and Noble County before returning to Etna-Troy Township in 1983. She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1951. On May 6, 1955 she married Robert Eugene Reavis in Syracuse.

For over 35 years, she worked as a housekeeper and caregiver for numerous families in the Whitley County area. She and her husband owned and operated Checker Gas Station on South Main Street, Columbia City for 10 years. She attended Blue River Community Church.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Robert J., Jeffrey A. (Joanie) and Douglas E. (Christine) Reavis all of Columbia City; 6 grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Geiger of Albion. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Eugene Reavis, 1 sister, Marjorie Lock and 3 brothers, Paul, William and Carl Breisch.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery, Ormas. Memorials gifts may be given in Mrs. Reavis to the American Cancer Society or Whitley County Council on Aging.
