Doris Ellen Taylor, 73, of Bear Lake and Nokomis, Fla., died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Venice Regional Hospital in Venice, Fla. She had battled cancer for several years.

Born in Columbia City on Dec. 29, 1934, she was a daughter of Gerald and Golda Egolf.

On Dec. 29, 1953, she was married to Jimmie K. Taylor in Angola and prior to retirement they spent most of their years of marriage at
their Bear Lake home. After retirement they spent winters in Nokomis.

An employee of Central Noble School Corporation for 23 years, she retired from the transportation department in 1989 as a school bus driver.

In her leisure time she enjoyed crafting gourds, reading and spending time with her family.

She attended Wolf Lake United Methodist Church, enjoyed coaching girls softball and was an officer of the Wolf Lake Baseball/Softball Association. A member of the Wolf Lake Park Board, she was a member of the East Shore Conservancy and of the Florida and Indiana Gourd Society.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmie; two daughters, Jamie (Brian) Hull of Syracuse, Susan (Jeff) Ladig of Kimmell and a son, Mike Taylor of Cromwell; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a brother Robert (Judy) Egolf of Fort Myers, Fla.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Egolf.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. on May 10, 2008, at the Wolf Lake United Methodist Church at Wolf Lake.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Wolf Lake
Free Health Clinic, in care of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 64, Wolf Lake, IN.

Local arrangements are by Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco.
