Phillip L. Farris, age 69 , of Granger, IN died at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Noble County, IN, at his grandparents farm, on January 29, 1936 to Waldo C. and Mary I. (Engle) Farris.

As a child he moved from Noble County to Whitley County where he spent his childhood, graduating from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1955. He married Sandra S. Kistler on May 5, 1956 at the Lutheran Church in Cromwell, IN. He was first employed by Kroger for 17 years where he began as a stock boy and worked his way up to management. He retired after 22 years of service, as a truck driver and then became the warehouse manager for Inlander-Stiendler Paper Company, South Bend, IN with the home office in Elk Grove, IL. He was a member of the Son's of the American Legion, Post #98, Columbia City, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra S. Farris of Granger, IN; 1 son, Phillip Douglas (Sharon) Farris, South Bend, IN; 1 daughter, Armentha Louise (David) Dean, Mishawaka, IN; 3 grandchildren, Justin and Heather Dean and Carrie Thompson; 3 great grandchildren, Brittnee, John and Kristianna Thompson and 1 brother, Elden E. Farris of Cromwell, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2005 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Rensner of the United Church of Christ, Kimmell, IN officiating. Burial will be held at Thorn Cemetery, Ormas, Noble County, IN.
