Notes:	Larry Kent Conrad, 80, of Fort Wayne, died at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne where he was admitted on Monday. He was born April 12, 1938 in Columbia City a son of the late Ronald E. and Sara J. (Mahnesmith). His formative years were spent in Columbia City and he graduated from Columbia City High School in 1956. He then entered the General Electric Tool and Die Maker program. On June 9, 1956 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ramona Gibson. They made their first home in rural Columbia City and since 1963 they have lived in Fort Wayne. Larry became a tool and die maker for GE- Fort Wayne and later a department foreman. During the last years of his service, he was a modeler for new designs. He retired in 2000 with 44 years of service. He was a member of the North Highlands Church of God, a former volunteer firefighter for Aboite Twp. and participated in football, 4H and FFA during his school years. In his retirement years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and fishing. He regularly took his granddaughter to the Children’s Zoo leading her to pursue a veterinary science degree. Surviving relatives include his wife, Patricia, children, Barbara L. (Jim) Knickerbocker, Okinawa, Japan, Kathy J. (R. Lynn) Brown, Sonoita, AZ, Ronald J. (Brenda) Conrad, Bloomington, and Steven F. (Tina) Conrad, Virginia Beach, VA; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Peggy) Conrad and Keith (Mary) Conrad, both of Columbia City and a sister, Karen (Kenneth) Gaerte, NY. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30th at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Interment is in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 29th at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service. Preferred memorials are to North Highlands Church of Christ.
