Eddie Richard Bunger, 77, of rural Columbia City, died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He was born June 20, 1941 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Chester Edward and Helen Ruth (Jackson) Bunger. His formative years were spent in Columbia City where he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1959 [1960].

On November 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary Rose Headrick. They made their home at Loon Lake, Whitley County. From 1970 to 1973, they living in Fort Wayne. Returning to Whitley County, they lived at Tri-Lakes until his retirement when the couple moved to Florida. Mary died April 30, 2012. For the past three years, Eddie lived in Lake Placid, FL.

He had over 30 years with Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne as tool and die maker. For five years he owned and operated Portside Pizza at Tri-Lakes. After moving to Florida, he worked in the produce department of Publix Grocery.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Columbia City, the Mizpah Shrine, served as a leader in Boy Scouts of America and coached Little League Baseball. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed hunting. He loved to sing, especially Elvis songs and was a good dancer whether swing dancing, rock-n-roll, or country two-step, he enjoyed them all. An accomplished bowler, he participated in several leagues.

He is survived by three children, Rebecca A. (Troy) Morsches, Bradenton, FL, Thomas R. Bunger, Churubusco, and Brian M. Bunger, Bradenton, FL; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Weida, Fort Wayne.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Bunger.

The funeral service is 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Entombment is at a later date at the South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday
