Marvin Arnold Goble, age 78, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born October 24, 1943, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Arnold and Grace (Palmer) Goble.

Marvin attended Columbia City Joint High School and graduated with the Class of 1962. On July 14, 1973, he married Jane Schmitt at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church where he served on the Financial Committee for many years. Raising their seven children in South Whitley, he worked as the Branch Manager of the Farmer’s Loan and Trust Bank. In looking for ways to benefit the community he initiated the Whitko Dollars for Scholars Program and loved being involved in planning events, especially the Fall Festival.

Marvin enjoyed life at the lake, watching I.U. basketball, and supporting his children and grandchildren in their many activities.

Marvin is survived by his daughters, Heidi (Brian) Krider of Columbia City, Ingrid (Mike) McClain of Larwill, Gretchen (Stan) Chalvire of North Easton, Massachusetts and Brigitte (Zach) Henson of Wichita, Kansas; sons, Adam (Kimberly) Goble of Churubusco, Brent Goble of Fort Wayne and Andrew Goble of Columbia City; 16 grandchildren; sister Marlene (Ed) Russell of Englewood, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jane, and his grandson Theo Alexander Michael Goble.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with a reciting of the rosary at 3:30 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday March 23, 2022, at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S Line St, Columbia City with calling one hour prior. Burial will follow in St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to a Catholic charity in care of Ingrid McClain.
