SHARON A. LAMLE, 60, of Columbia City, died early Monday morning, October 2, 2006 at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis where she was admitted on Thursday, September 22nd.

She was born September 25, 1946 in Hartford, Connecticut a daughter of Renee and Beatrice (Thoms) Collins. As a young girl, her father died. Later at the age of 12, her mother moved the family to Union Township, Whitley County and married John M. Hess.

She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School, received her bachelors degree in elementary education from Taylor University and received her masters in elementary education from Indiana University in Fort Wayne

On July 12, 1974 she was united in marriage to Gary D. Lamle. They made their home on a farm in Allen County until 2001 when they moved to their present home south of Columbia City.

She taught fifth and second grades at Coesse School from 1968 until 2004.

Her memberships include Grace Lutheran Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and a member of its Abigail Group. She was also a member of Whitley County Teachers Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, National Education Association, Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Who's Who Among American Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Gary; a son, Andrew David (Tiffany) Lamle of Indianapolis; two step sons, Timothy (Annette) Lamle and Mark (Hollie) Lamle, both of Columbia City; four grandchildren; her father, John Hess of Columbia City; and two sisters, Lynnette Dunlap of Fort Wayne and Connie Sims of Columbia City.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church, 204 North Main Street, Columbia City with Rev. Dr. C. James Cress, church pastor, officiating. The burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Hospice Home or American Cancer Society.
