Notes:	Christopher Phend Thompson, 67, formerly of Columbia City, died at 5:52 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at Reid Hospital and Health Care Services in Richmond, Indiana of aspiration pneumonia. Christopher Russell Phend, was born Dec. 12, 1946 in Whitley Co., the son of Harold R. and Elizabeth (Wolfe) Phend. Chris spent most of his elementary schooling at Columbia Township School and he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1965. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Denver in Colorado. Chris is survived by his mother, Elizabeth A. Thompson of North Manchester; step-sisters, Shirley (George) Spath, Cathy (Harry) Bubanas, Susan (William) Penney, Judie (Ron) Songer, Leila Plew and Lora York; a step-brother, Ray Thompson. Also his step-mother, Wilma (Butler) Phend; step-sister, Deborah Phend; and step-brothers Arthur, Russell, Lynn, Timothy and Daniel Phend. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Harold R. Phend and his adoptive father, Dr. Frank M. Thompson. Arrangements are made by Smith and Son’s Funeral Home of Columbia City. Burial is at Thorn Cemetery near Ormas in Noble County, Indiana.
