Notes:	Jeffery Lynn Betten, 24, South Whitley, was killed on Ind. 13 about a quarter mile south of the Liberty Mills road in northern Wabash County in a double highway crash at 12:10 a.m. March 19, 1977. Born Jan. 24, 1953, he was a son of Charles and Janice Betten. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1971. While a student in high school, he participated in football for 4 years, was active in wrestling, Letterman’s Club and was Vice President of his senior class. He attended IU Extension in Fort Wayne and was employed as an associate with Larry Nellans Realtors in Warsaw. On Feb 7, 1976 he was married to Michelle Riecke, who survives. Mr. Betten was a member of the Centerview Community Church at South Whitley and was affiliated with the Columbia City DeMolay. Survivors include; his wife, Michelle; his parents; a grandmother, Mrs. Henry (Nora) Gridley of North Manchester; two sisters, Becky Jo, at home, and Mrs. Vince (Kathy) Turner of Huntington. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at DeLaughter Mortuary in North Manchester with Rev. Tony Hardcastle officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary after 7 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at Servia [Indiana]. Obituary in Columbia City Post March 19, 1977, Pg 1.
