Jack Alan Craig, 69, of Columbia City, died peacefully with his daughter by his side at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was admitted on Monday.

Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 8, 1953, he was a son of the late Jerry Lee Craig and Grace L. (Weist) Craig. Growing up in Fort Wayne, he completed Franke Park Elementary School and started high school at North Side. After the family moved to Columbia City, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1972.

On June 30, 1973, he married Jane Palmer. They have always made their home in rural Columbia City. Jane died on March 6, 2019.

He began his work career at International Harvester, Fort Wayne until the plant closure. He then joined Essex, Columbia City where he worked until 1994. Starting his own business, Complete Computer Service, he operated it until retiring in 2013.

He enjoyed riding his Yamaha Venture motorcycle adding a sidecar so he could take his family on trips to the neighboring states and the Carolinas. He liked to tinker with cars always having several to keep him busy. In his younger years, he played guitar and sang, often at church.

Surviving is his daughter, Jessica (Adam) Smith of Columbia City; grandchildren, Grace Jackson and twins, Emily & Ella Smith; and brothers, Ralph Craig of Arizona, and Jerry Craig of New Haven.

At Jack’s request, there will be no services. Interment will be beside his wife at the South Park Annex Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home Columbia City.
