Notes:

Dr. Edwin Ed Alan Knipstein, 58, passed away suddenly on Dec. 19, 2015, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on Dec. 31, 1956, to Edwin Fred Knipstein and Daisy Mae Hansen.

After working as a garbage man in his youth, Ed received his bachelor's degree from Wabash College in 1979. He continued his education at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago and graduated with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 1983.

He moved to Lubbock and began a successful private practice, but his true success came later. Ed married Lorraine Lord on June 21, 2011, in Columbia City, IN. It was a whirlwind romance that joined two families destined to be together.

Ed was a devoted family man dedicated to making them happy. He taught them how to grill the perfect steak and pour the perfect pint; but most of all, he taught them how to love unconditionally. A lover of all things Superman, he was a super man to all whose lives he touched.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Ed and Daisy; wife, Lorraine; son, Benjamin Knipstein and wife, Rachael; son, Michael Knipstein; daughter, Jenni Dale Lord; son, Billy Lord and wife, Jaren; granddaughter, Emmiandra; sister, Sue and husband, Steve Method; sister, Sally and husband, G. Doug Gasaway; and brother, Charles and wife, Vicki. Ed was preceded in death by his infant son, Brian.

Visitation for Ed will be held Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at Resthaven Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral services will be conducted Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at St. Paul's on the Plains Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. followed by burial in the Resthaven cemetery.

For those who prefer to make a donation in lieu of flowers, a breast cancer charity of your choice is appreciated. Condolences may be offered at www.resthavenfuneralhome
