Notes:	Steven A. McConnell, 52, of McCordsville, died Oct. 10, 2008. He was born on Sept. 20, 1956 in Allen County to the late George and Phyllis McConnell. He was a graduate of Columbia City Joint High School and Indiana University and was self-employed in the construction industry. He was a Hancock County Reserve Deputy Sheriff. He was a former Boy Scout leader and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Fortville. Survivors include his wife Mary (Lee), daughter Kathleen, son Patrick (Caitlin), grandson Logan, sisters Kathy (Ken) Woodward and Beth (Terry) Koeneman. He was caring and compassionate as witnessed by his heroics in helping with the evacuation of the Columbus Regional Hospital during the recent floods. His passion was for giving back to the community and helping others in both small and large ways and he will be dearly missed by those who loved him. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Thomas Catholic Church parish hall in Fortville, followed by a memorial service in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Hancock County Sheriff Dept., Reserve Division. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus, Ind.
