Post and Mail January 3, 1983:

Jay J. Johnson, 27, R 4, (High Lake), Albion, died Saturday, at 7:20 a.m. at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Johnson died after being struck by a hit-and-run motorist on CR 500 W, Noble County, during the early hours of Saturday morning.

He was born Dec. 12, 1955, to Jack J. and Ruby Fisher Johnson Sr.

Mr. Johnson was reared in Whitley County, attending Coesse grade school and graduating in 1977 from Columbia City Joint High School.

In October, 1982, he married Deborah L. Hexamer at Albion.

Surviving are his parents, his wife, one son, J.J. Johnson, Columbia City; one step-son, Danny Treace, R 4, Albion; one daughter, Jessie Johnson, Columbia City; and two step-daughters, Lisa and Ellen Jo Treace, R 4, Albion.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Cathy Vincent, Muncie.

Mr. Johnson was a truck transport driver for Apple Truck Lines, Madison, S.D.

Also surviving are four brothers, Jack J. Johnson Jr., R 7, Columbia City; James J. Johnson, R 1, Columbia City; Jeff Johnson, Stockton, Calif.: and Joel Johnson, San Diego, Calif.

He was a member of St. Pau of the Cross Catholic Church.

Visitation will be after 2` p.m. today at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, Columbia City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Place, St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment will be at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
