Sandra L. Peters , 51, of Columbia City, died at 12:44 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Parkview Main Hospital, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Monday, October 31st.

She was born June 24, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan a daughter of Chester A. and Mildred M. (Mitchell) Sample. In 1972, the family moved to Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1978. She completed an associates degree in accounting at International Business College in Fort Wayne.

On March 16, 1985, she was united in marriage to Milton G. Peters. They have always made their home in Columbia City.

She was employed by ITT Corp, Fort Wayne in the Accounting Department for the past 15 years. Prior, she was employed HWI in New Haven for 15 years.

She loved and cherished her family. She bred and raised poodles, enjoyed puzzles and gardening.

Surviving include her husband, Milton; a daughter Sara (Christopher) L. Kinney, Fort Wayne; a son, Lucas J. Peters, Columbia City; a sister, Patricia Sample, Columbia City; nieces, Heather Pebley, Fort Wayne, Kimberly Chaney, Fort Wayne and nephews, Carl Sample, Osceola and Christopher Sample, Fort Wayne.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Sample.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with certified Life-Cycle Celebrant, Nancy Zummack officiating. Burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
