Notes:

Randall Scott Bockelman, 57, of Columbia City, died peacefully at 3:25 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2022, at his home, in the company of family.

Born on February 16, 1965, in Columbia City, he was a son of Roger and Linda (Reese) Bockelman. Growing up in Columbia City, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1983.

Always residing in Columbia City, for the past 23 years, he has been a member of the Columbia City Electric Department, working as a lineman.

Athletic and active, he enjoyed all sports either playing or watching. During the summer months, he participated in the softball leagues and, more recently, the Eel River golf leagues. A talented and accomplished bowler, he has several perfect 300 games to his credit. He missed three – 300 games in one night by a measly three pins on the last set. As a spectator, he liked the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Races, IU Basketball, and followed his favorite NFL team – the Dallas Cowboys.

He leaves behind two sons, Taylor S. Bockelman of Plano, TX, and Logan J. Bockelman of Columbia City; his mother, Linda (Bud) Lucas of Columbia City; brothers, Michael (Dawn) Bockelman and Brent (Cindy) Bockelman, both of Columbia City; a sister Lori A. (Brandin) Heuer of Columbia City; several nieces and nephews; step-mom, Barb J. Bockelman; step-brothers, Jason Moore and Eric Dunlap; girlfriend, Renee Platt and his beloved basset hound, Sadie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Bockelman.

The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at the South Park Annex Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials in Randy’s honor are the Humane Society of Whitley County.
