Obituary in Post and Mail October 19, 2005, Pg. 2: Gordon Earl "Gordy" Barton, 39, of Vevay, died at 8:42 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005. Born on March 4, 1966, in Fort Wayne, a son of Theil M. "Sonny" and Roberta J. (Scudder) Barton, he was a 1984 graduate of Columbia City High School. He resided in Sedro Wooley, Wash., for seven years and was a meat cutter at the Shank's Meats in Everrett, Wash. In 1999, he moved back to Patriot, Ind. and was employed at the DGC Plastics in East Enterprise until it closed in 2004. He worked construction with Richard Scudder until his death. He enjoyed music, drawing, coin collecting and gardening. Survivors include his mother, Roberta J. Barton of Patriot; two sisters, Barbara Barrett of Auburn and Julie Coe of Florence, Ky.; three brothers, Daniel Barton of Vevay; Frank Barton of Arcola, and James Barton of Snohomish, Wash.; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Schaefer of North Huntingdon, Pa.; five uncles and five aunts, six nieces and nine nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. The funeral service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St. in Vevay, with the Rev. Wayne Edwards officiating. Visitation is from noon until time of service Thursday. Burial is at New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise. The family requests memorials in memory of Gordy to the Family of Gordy Barton or the American Heart Association. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
