Amanda Lynn (Gottschalk) Ford, age 28, of Jacksonville, NC and formerly of Columbia City, IN died suddenly on Monday, February 26, 2007 at Onslow Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, NC. She was born on July 21, 1978 in Columbia City, Whitley County, IN to Joseph and Connie (DeLaughter) Gottschalk.

As a young girl, she lived in South Whitley, IN from 1978-1980 and New Paris, IN from 1980-1982, moving to Columbia City from 1983-1997 where she graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1997. During her college years she resided in Muncie, IN from 1997-2001 where she graduated from Ball State University in 2001 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. At Ball State University, she was on the Dean's List in the Spring and Fall of 2000 and Amanda was a member of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship from 1998-2000.

On July 28, 2001 she married Nicholas Adam Ford at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Columbia City, IN. As a first year teacher, she taught fifth grade students at Longfellow Elementary School, Muncie, IN. Since 2002, she taught first and third grade classes at Jacksonville Commons Elementary School, Jacksonville, NC. She was a former member of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Columbia City and since 2004, she was a member of Tar Landing Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Nickolas Adam Ford, Jacksonville, NC; 3 year old daughter, Anna Grace Ford, Jacksonville, NC; parents, Joseph and Connie Gottschalk, Columbia City, IN; 1 sister, Jennifer (Chad) Christman, Fort Wayne, IN; and grandmother, Pauline Gottschalk, South Whitley, IN. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lester Gottschalk and Talman and Thelma DeLaughter.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor Ross O'Dell of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City, IN.

Memorial bequests may be given in Amanda's memory to the Arthritis Foundation or Education Fund of Anna Ford, c/o State Employees Credit Union, 1079 Western Blvd., Jacksonville, NC 28546. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
