James Ryan Mays, age 21, died at 3:15 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2007 due to injuries from a motor vehicle accident. Ryan was a 2005 graduate of Columbia City High School and was currently employed with Da-Lite Screen in Warsaw. He was previously a landscaper with Ground Effects landscaping.

He attended Community of Hope Church, Ryan as he was known to everyone, enjoyed drawing and listening to his favorite music.Survivors include his parents Jim and Kim Mays of Columbia City; 1 sister, Tricia Mays (Tracy Drew) of Scotland, IN; and grandparents Pat and Les Bills of Columbia City, IN and Bill and Betty Vance of Rochester, IN; he also leaves behind his girlfriend Kellie Martin of Fort Wayne, IN. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Joan Mays. He will be dearly missed by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 2-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation an hour prior at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Gregory of Community of Hope Church officiating. Committal service will follow at South Park Cemetery. Memorial bequests may be given in Ryan's memory to the Whitley County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
