Kenneth Guy Crowell, 77, of Columbia City, IN died at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. Born in Whitley County, IN on November 29, 1928, he was the son of Clarence Guy and Edna (Sievers) Crowell.

He graduated from Columbia City High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. On May 14, 1949, he married Betty Mae Wilcoxson in Collins, IN. He has spent his entire lifetime in Whitley County and owned and operated Crowell Builders, Columbia City since 1952. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of God and was an avid airplane pilot, successfully doing his first solo flight on October 7, 1969.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Linda (Cleo) Landis of Columbia City, IN; 1 son, Terry L. (Jody) Crowell of Cicero, IN; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Joy Pullin of Fort Wayne, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty Mae Crowell, who passed on March 1, 2005 and 1 grandson, Tracy.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the funeral home with Pastor Carroll McNutt, formerly of the Oak Grove Church of God, officating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Columbia City, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Crowell's memory to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
