HARLEY D. PETTIT, 69, of Fort Wayne, died at 1:04 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2007 at his home. He had been in failing health.

He was born July 13, 1937 in Columbia City, Indiana a son of Harley L. and Dollie D. (Ferguson) Pettit. His formative years were spent in Columbia City where he attended the Columbia City Schools.

A United States Army veteran, he has made his home in Fort Wayne since the mid 1960s. He retired from Leo Distributors with 21 years of service.

On February 24, 2001 he was united in marriage to Kathleen (Rash) Lash.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Kathleen Pettit; and two aunts, Margie Bennett of Collins and Cloe Kerns of Old Tippy.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2007 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Bishop Mike Morimanno officiating. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
