Lois A. Dunfee, 72, of rural Columbia City, died at 7:26 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Tuesday.

She was born April 25, 1940 in Tunker, Indiana a daughter of Russell C. and Dorothy E. (Wright) Hawn. The family lived in Tunker until 1944 when they moved to Columbia City. She attended Columbia City High School and completed her GED.

On June 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Marshall G. Dunfee. They made their home in South Whitley and then Washington Twp, Whitley County. In 1958, they moved to Columbia City and in 1960 Bluffton. In 1965, they moved to their present home in Washington Twp, Whitley County. Mr. Dunfee died April 24, 2002.

She was employed by Chamberlin Products, South Whitley; Viking, Columbia City for 18 years and Passages, Columbia City from 1993 until 2003.

Her memberships included Bethel Rebekah Lodge since 1958 and lifetime VFW 5582 auxiliary.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Romona Dunfee, Laud and Rita Dunfee, Laud; a son, Ryan (Stephanie) Dunfee, Camby, IN; and 2 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Connie Butler and Wilma Cox.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Jefferson Chapel Cemetery. The visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
