Notes:

Rebecca Ann Curless, 73, resident at Crooked Lake, passed away peacefully in her home on October 4, 2021. Born November 23, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Sherman Kneller and Marjorie (Plattner) Kneller. She had a brother, Michael, who was diagnosed at a young age with muscular dystrophy and passed away in 1966.

Becky grew up in Columbia City and graduated from Columbia City High School. She began learning about State Farm while she worked for her father. Later, in 1979 she became an agent for State Farm in Columbia City. While working there, she enjoyed meeting her clients and their families too. She developed a special relationship with her employee and friend Jamie Percy.

She was a member of Tri Kappa and attended Grace Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed planting flowers in the church’s planters for many years. She had special times with her friends where they would play cards, catch up on the latest news, and share recipes. She enjoyed traveling to Antigua for several years. Collecting seashells as she walked the sandy beaches was her favorite pastime there.

While residing at Crooked Lake, she enjoyed many family gatherings with the Sickafoose and Plattner families with boat rides on the lake, homemade food, and the annual 4th of July firework show. She spent many hours outside planting her annual flowers for the summer and taking her dogs for walks.

Becky is survived by her sons, Todd and wife Heather Reid of Columbia City and David Reid, Hawaii. Becky was blessed with her granddaughter Hannah Reid. Becky enjoyed picking Hannah up from school and taking her to after-school activities. Comforting Becky in her final days were her family, Tammy McQueen, Debbie Gay, and her two special sidekicks, Keona and Lady.

Memorials in Becky’s honor may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

In keeping with the wishes of Becky, there will be no funeral service.

Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City.
