A proud graduate of Columbia City Joint High School's Class of 1976, Scott's high school years were marked by active involvement in the school band, FFA program, wrestling matches, and track competitions. On April 25, 1998, Scott married Kristine Leigh Dittmer. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and educational pursuits, Scott found joy in spending time with his family, being on Lake Sechrist, trick skiing and teaching the younger generation of Porters how to water ski! His other hobbies were snowmobiling and working on cars. His also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, cheering for Tony Stewart, and watching sports teams like IU and the Chicago Bears. There were many memories he created with his family and friends snowmobiling in the winter months and spending time in the U.P. of Michigan. Scott also was a gifted auto mechanic.

We were touched by his genuine spirit. In describing Scott's personality, those who knew him best often used words like loving, dedicated, and straightforward. He was a man who valued honesty and never hesitated to speak his mind with integrity.

Scott leaves behind a legacy that will be forever cherished by his surviving family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Kristi Porter; loving sons Chad (Nichole) Porter and Kyle Porter; daughter Kassidy Porter; grandchildren, Blake and Easton Porter; father, Chuck Porter; brothers, Tim and Todd (Denise) Porter; sisters Marsha Bartrom and Kimberly (Jim) Morrow; numerous nieces and nephews; -in-laws, Raymond and Laura Dittmer; sisters-in-law Jill (Shawn) Lickey and Lisa (Peter) Rouch; close family member Christine Mossburg; along with his two beloved chocolate labs, Diesel and Kola. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Porter.

As we gather to pay our respects, visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 709 W Business 30, Columbia City with visitation one hour prior. Scott will be laid to rest near his mother at Eberhard Cemetery. Casual attire is welcomed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to help with final expenses or to his family for local organizations that are important to them.">
