of Columbia City, died at 9:53 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, due to injuries sustained in a deer-motorcycle collision.

Born in Columbia City on March 27, 1987, he was a son of Harold DeWayne and Christine D. (Hyndman) Nickolson. A lifetime Whitley County resident, he graduated from Columbia City High School where he played football for two years and was a wrestler.

He was also a member of the American Boy Scouts where he received the Eagle Scout award. He was currently attending ABC (Associated Builders & Contractors of IN, Inc.) in Fort Wayne.

Survivors include his mother, Christine Nickolson of Columbia City; sisters, Rhonda (Ryan) McCammon of Dexter, Mich. and Angie Hull of Columbia City; a brother, Aarinn Nickolson of Arlington, Texas, his grandmother, Josephine Hyndman of Columbia City, a great-grandmother, Hazel Hartley of Columbia City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, and his grandparents, Frank and Betty Nickolson and Chester Hyndman.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City. The funeral service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Karen Biddle of West Point Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial is at Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial bequests may be given in Marc's memory to the Whitley County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Note: Marc was riding his 1990 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on County Road 300 East near County Road 100 South about 9:30 p.m. September 16, 2007 when the accident occurred, police said. Witnesses told police that several deer were standing along the road and that one deer ran into the path of Nickolson's motorcycle. Nickolson struck the deer and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Police said Nickolson, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered head injuries and died at the scene.
