Notes:	Kenneth C. Schneider, 80, of rural Columbia City, died at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was born March 23, 1929 in Columbia City, Indiana a son of Melvin and Ester (Wolf) Schneider. His formative years were spent in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1948. On May 9, 1951, he entered into the U.S. Army. He served in Korea from 1951 to 1953. On February 9, 1953 he was released from active duty. He entered the U.S. Army Reserves and served until May 9, 1975. On August 24, 1966 he was united in marriage to Marjorie I. Hively. They made home in the Columbia City area. Mrs. Schneider died September 16, 2009 He was employed by Dana Corp Spicer Axle as a line assembler and later moved to Quality Control. He retired with over 35 years of service. His memberships included Free and Accepted Masons, Columbia City Lodge 189, American Legion Post 98, Mizpah Shrine and First Church of God, Columbia City. Surviving relatives two sons, David K. (Sara) Schneider and Daniel P. Schneider, and a step-son, Ronald L. (Penny) Egolf all of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Helen and Alice Schneider both of Columbia City. In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Glenn. The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Pastor Johnny McCallister officiating. The burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 8:00 p.m. For those who wish, memorials may be made to First Church of God
