EDGAR B. ROBY, 71, Fort Wayne resident, passed away peacefully in his home, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, surrounded by family members. Born in Columbia City, he was a 1956 graduate of Columbia City Joint High School and attended Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne.

Mr. Roby retired from Magnavox Co. (North American Phillips government defense projects division) where he was a member of the Quarter Century Klub. He enjoyed a post-retirement job at Vorderman Motorwerks.

He was a member of the Anthony Wayne First Church of God, served as a deacon along with volunteering in their Mission House. He served as a Trustee with the Southwest Allen County Fire District and was a former Boy Scout leader at Anthony Wayne Elementary. Mr. Roby served in the U.S. Navy in Chicago from 1956 to 1959.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Beck) Roby, children Cindy Murphy, Chris Roby, Fort Wayne, Jeff Roby, Indianapolis; sister, Lois Nix, Columbia City; grandchildren, Ben Roby, Trevor Roby, Kayla Murphy, Miranda Murphy, Emmily Eastman and Samuel Eastman; a great grand daughter, Rhiana Murphy all of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michele Eastman, brother, James Roby and his parents, Willie E. and Hazel L. Leamon Roby.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 in the Anthony Wayne First Church of God, 6012 South Bend Drive, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Jerry Blanchard, officiating. Interment will be in the South Whitley Cemetery with the Whitley County Korean War Veterans presenting the military honors.. The visitation will be from 2 to 7 pm Sunday at the church and one hour before the service on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Anthony Wayne First Church of God, Leukemia Society or the Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
