of Grand Rapids, Mich., passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009.

She worked as a cosmetician at Walgreens. Kay never met a stranger and we know that she is chatting up new friends even now. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, Maddie, Claire and Carlos.

Kay is survived by her children, Melissa and Todd Newman and Edward Lehman and his partner David Kauha; grandchildren Madeline Newman, Claire Newman and Carlos Newman; sister Darlene Richardson and her husband, Don Wood; brother Larry (Sue) Smith and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Kay will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford, Mich., with Pastor Randy Phillips officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
