Notes:	Wm. LeRoy Jones, 79, of Columbia City, died early Wednesday morning, August 7, 2013 at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was admitted on Monday. He was born January 17, 1934 in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County a son of Louis W. and Lillie M. (Sullivan) Jones. As a third grader, his family moved into Columbia City. He graduated in 1952 from Columbia City High School. On June 10, 1956 he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Benzinger. They always made their home in Columbia City. Mrs. Jones died January 2, 2002. He was employed at National Mill Supply in Fort Wayne and retired in 1993 from NIPSCO with 27 years of service. A veteran, he served in the U.S. National Guard and as a specials officer with Columbia City Police Department in the 1970s. Surviving relatives include two children, Daniel (Susan) Jones and Lisa (Rick) Gaff, all of Columbia City; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Jones of Columbia City; and a sister, Dorothy Tinney of Fort Wayne. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard A. Jones and Louis A. Jones; and a sister, Gertrude Lee. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Salvation Army. 8-22-06 Update Note: Retired from NIPSCO in 1993 after 27 yrs service. Did the work bit as most all of us do. Had a c/r family band for 10 years playing tri-state area. Not much money made but had a lot of fun. Since Beverly passed on, haven't done much, just taking it easy.
