HELEN B. MYERS, 101, a resident of Columbia City, died at 8:10 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2006 at The Oaks Living Center where she had been a resident since the Spring of 2000.

She was born August 7, 1904 in Rockford, Mercer County, Ohio a daughter of Louis Branson and Elsie Ellen (Hinckle) Roebuck. In 1911 her family moved to Fort Wayne where she attended Parker School and Central High School. In August 1919 her family moved to Columbia City. She completed her education at Columbia City High School.

After completing her education, she assisted her family in the operation of Westside Greenhouse. She was later employed at Blue Bell and retired in October 1969 from Weatherhead with 26 years of service.

On November 28, 1926 she was united in marriage to Walter D. "Muzzy" Myers, whose family owned & operated Myers Confectionary & Creamery. They always made their home in Columbia City. Mr. Myers died March 23, 1977.

She was a member of the Alpha Alumni Chapter of Delta Theta Tau and the Pioneer Club at Weatherhead.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Sally Stevens of Greenfield; a son, Frank Myers of Columbia City; five grandchildren, Brian Stevens, Tami Fry, Todd Myers, Tina Lemon and Lynette Harrison; and eight great grandchildren, Shannon & Cody Fry, Amy & James Myers, Lauren & Austin Gareiss, and Megan & Christa Ross.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Perry; a brother, Ronald Roebuck; and five sisters, Edgedeene Boyer, Mary Pollitte, Melba Parker, Ruth Dickson and Martha Shoff.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Greenhill Cemetery with Pastor Jeffery Boyle officiating.

There will be no public visitation.
