Harold Willard Warnick, 81, of Columbia City, died at 2:59 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.

Born on Nov. 1, 1924, in Fort Wayne, a son of Marshall Earl and Sabra L. (Monroe) Warnick, he was raised in Allen County. In 1939, he moved to Whitley County and attended Thorncreek Elementary School and Columbia City High School.

His first marriage was to Norma D. Day on May 1, 1948, at Big Lake Church of God. She died in 1995. His second marriage was to Alberta I. Pook on July 6, 1998, at Zion Lutheran Church in Columbia City.

A general farmer, he formerly owned the Warnick General Store in Collamar, Warnick Auto Sales in Columbia City for 34 years, Warnick & Warnick Realty and Builders and he purchased the Columbia City Dodge Agency in 1970.

He attended Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta; two sons, Dennis Harold (Marjorie) Warnick of Columbia City, and Duane Warnick of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Darlene (Jerry) Kittle of Huntertown, and Dawn (Rex) Spencer of Columbia City; two step-sons, Mike (Pam) Beasley of Columbia City, and Max (Susan) Beasley of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Willard Warnick; two half-brothers and a half-sister.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City. The funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, with calling one hour prior, at the funeral home, with Pastor James Haugen of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial is at Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Warnick's memory to Whitley County Community Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
